QuickDraw vs MiniWorks EX: Which Backpacking Filter to Choose

Quick Answer

Choose the QuickDraw filter for ultralight trips where every gram counts, or the MiniWorks EX for long expeditions where you need to service the filter in the field.

QuickDraw vs MiniWorks EX: Key Trade-Offs

• Weight and Pack Size: The QuickDraw is ultralight and compact, ideal for minimalists. The MiniWorks EX is heavier but built to withstand years of heavy use.
• Flow Rate and Speed: The QuickDraw offers a fast squeeze flow for quick hydration breaks. The MiniWorks EX has a slower output but delivers consistent, long-term performance.
• Field Maintenance: The MiniWorks EX can be fully serviced in the field—no special tools needed. The QuickDraw is not designed for field servicing; you carry a backup or replace the cartridge. If your trip is longer than a week, the MiniWorks EX's maintainability is a significant advantage.
